Every single registered domain has no less than 2 Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain address to the servers of a specific hosting provider. That way, you've got both your website and your emails managed by the same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are a number of other records, like A and MX. The first one shows which server handles the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, whenever you type a domain name in your web browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you may be forwarded to the servers of another provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having separate records for the website and the e-mails means you can have your website and your e-mails with two different companies if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud hosting service from our company, you'll be able to see, set up and change any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. Assuming that a specific Internet domain has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to modify specific records by using our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your site or e-mails directed to another provider if you'd like to use only one of our services. Our sophisticated tool is going to enable you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted elsewhere by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name the slightest bit. If you decide to use the email services of another company and they want you to set up more than 2 MX records, you can easily do that with only a couple of clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can even set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, allows you to view the A and MX records for any of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if needed, to update any of them or create new ones. Managing these records is quite easy because all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes just a few more clicks and in case you experience any troubles, you can check out our educational videos on how to create A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to provide you with 100 % control of all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're switching your e-mails to a different company and they ask you to create more than 2 different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
