If you have root-level access to a server, it indicates that you'll have full control over it. In other words, you can install any server-side application whatever the changes that it will make to the software environment on the server, and you'll be able to both access and customize any kind of file, which includes system files, and change various settings. This can be done by connecting to the server as a root user that has full privileges to perform all these things and also to make other users, including users that also have full privileges. The connection can be established with a web-based graphical interface or a Secure Shell console. For safety reasons, it's recommended that you create a separate user for your everyday work and employ the root user only when you need to modify the server or to install software which may be required by a script-driven application that you want to run.

Full Root-level Access in VPS

Our VPS services feature different degrees of access, to give you the option to select the one you need, according to your level of experience and on what you need the server for. If you obtain a VPS without any Control Panel, you'll have full root-level access and you can control everything from a console, unless you set up some third-party software instrument. The servers which are ordered with the DirectAdmin or the cPanel hosting Control Panel also include full root access, however most of the things which are related to your online content can be performed via a graphical interface and not a console. You will be able to set up many different frameworks or media streaming software, for example, without a problem. If you get the virtual server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you may still use a Secure Shell console to connect, however, the root access is limited. Yet, the Hepsia-equipped servers are the easiest to manage.

Full Root-level Access in Dedicated Hosting

You will have full root-level access to your dedicated server no matter which plan you select during the signup process, as long as the server is provided with cPanel or DirectAdmin, or with no website hosting Control Panel at all. In each of these 3 cases, you will be able to modify any part of the software environment in any way you see fit, that makes our server plans suitable for multi-media apps with specific requirements that can't be covered if you use a shared hosting account. The main difference between these options is the fact that with cPanel or DirectAdmin, you will have a web-based graphical interface to take care of a variety of server-side options and also any web content which you create or upload, while if you order the server with no Control Panel, you will have to do everything using a Secure Shell console or to set up a Control Panel of your own liking, if it is compatible with the OS which you have selected during the registration process. With the third Control Panel option that you are able to choose on the order page - Hepsia, the root access is restricted.
